Back on the main road, the traveler passes
through Further east along this road lies Filoti, built in amphitheatrical fashion on the foothills of Mount Zas. It is the biggest village of Naxos and the most densely populated of all. |
FILOTI VILLAGE Walk to its narrow roads and discover an entirely different part of the village at each corner. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the hills of Mount Zas SIGHTSEEING You definitely have to go to Zas Cave to see the rare stalagmites. In the cave, the most important findings of the Prehistoric Times have been found. One hour further down from Filoti you will see Chimaros Tower, a four floor round stronghold of the Hellenistic Times built at an isolated area and bow being reconstructed. |

TRIPODES

The village of Tripodes (or Vivlos) with its characteristic windmills. You will find it on your way to the south-west beaches of the island. Its roads are very narrow and in the signs it is written as Vivlos only. The village is famous due to its 40 small churches that decorate its beautiful countryside, the friendliness and hospitality of its inhabitants, its historical background and its archaeological monuments.

APOLLONAS
|
The old small settlement off Apollon has undergone tourist developments in recent years. The kouros and the crystal-clear waters are the main attractions. SIGHTSEEING The Kouros of Apollonas. |

The road is ending up at the little seaside village of Apollonas, situated on a sandy bay to the north-east of the Chora. A short distance away from the village is an ancient marble quarry, and at the entrance to the quarry lies a kouros ten meters along, which has been there for centuries. |

KORONOS
|
Koronos, on the eastern foothills of the Koronos mountain,is picturesque in its valley of well-watered vineyards. Its inhabitants have long been employed in the hard work of the emery mines, but at the same time they have always seized any opportunity for festivities. SIGHTSEEING Beautiful houses and alleys and a clear air from the mountain. The scenery from the road to Koronos is extremely beautiful and breathtaking. Due to its mountainous view one cannot tell that it is an island village. |

SAGRI
|
The village of Sagri is built on a fertile hill full of olive trees and with a magnificent view. It is only 11 kms from Naxos Town. SIGHTSEEING Sagri is the community that connects history with the most beautiful beaches all over Aegean sea. In Sagri you will find the Ancient Demeter temple called Yria, Byzantine churches and Monasteries, Venetian towers and traditional houses and windmills. |

The beaches of Alyko, Glyfada, Kastraki, Mikri Vigla and Orkos are among the most famous beaches of the Aegean both for swimming and surfing. They all belong to the community of Sagri. |
