The main port of the island
is located at the western side of Andros. It has been one of the
most important ports of the ancient times and it was the port of
the transportation of marble, too. It’s 31 kms far from Chora,
with tourist traffic especially in summer.
SIGHTSEEING
The impressive round five - storeyed tower of Ayios Petros
with the dome - shaped ceiling. It’s considered as building
of the Hellenistic Age and it’s 2,5 kms northeast of Gavrion.
ENTERTAINMENT
There are many tavernas and restaurants. In the evenings,
there is much traffic in the bars. On the weekends you can also
go to bouzoukia. Traditional festivals at Fellos (26th of July),
Ayia Paraskevi and Varsamia on the 6th of August. |

- SPORTS
The closest beach is in the bay of Gavrion and to
Kypri. Very clear sea and sandy beach 7kms northwest of Gavrion,
in the bay of Kato Fellos. To the opposite side, 21 kms northeast,
walk to the bay Vitali, with the pebbly beach. In Gavrio, there
is a camping. If you have a boat, you can moor in the port of Gavrion.

Frequent itineraries of the buses from Chora up
to Gavrion. There are taxis and shops to rent a car and a motorcycle.

A beautiful village
of fishermen, with a pebbly beach. It’s 24 kms south of Chora.
With nice clean little houses with flower - gardens and narrow
streets.
SIGHTSEEING
The ruins of Palaeokastron.
The Byzantine Monastery of Treis Ierarches.
ENTERTAINMENT
There are tavernas and discotheques.
In August in the village they have the cultural festival, the
«Korthiana».
There are also the famous and traditional
festivals where the whole island is present and they are on the
27th of August, of Ayios Fanourios and on the 27th
of July, of Ayios Panteleimon.
EXCURSIONS
- SPORTS
You can swim at the large pebbly beach of the
bay. But, pay attention to the wind. Also, there is the beach
of Ayios Fanourios and Ayia Aikaterini. North of Korthion there
is the lonely bay, Pidima tis Grias. Here, except of the nice
sandy beach, you will admire the enormous cliff in the middle
of the bay, like a collumn emerging from the depth of the sea.
